third teacher idea Bridge the digital divide

One tested way to get all students, regardless
of their socioeconomic background, up to speed technologically is to give them laptops and a place to be unplugged yet connected.

"6 Netbooks for 6West" Project @ Children's Memorial Hospital

I'm from Chicago but had the opportunity to visit rural Vietnam three years ago. As we stumbled upon a small new orphanage, we were asked to help build the a library for the kids. In partnership with Rotary Club of Winnetka and Chicagoland Learning Leaders, we raised over $20,000, built the library. We then stumbled on over 100 free & fun computer games & courses for kids ages 5-12 (visit www.e-learningforkids.org) and Intel-powered ClassMate PC (visit www.ClassmatePC.com). We now have a new pilot at Children's Memorial Hospital providing 6 CMPC we found for rural Vietam - the rugged laptops work great in the harsh environments typically found in hospitals (a one-page flyer is online at www.learningexecutive.com/Flyers/CLLC2009_CSR.pdf or watch my YouTube channel below for project kick-off:
